Birthday Fun!

Nate is great!! Last weekend was my birthday and he made it so nice for me. On Saturday we went out to eat at Applebees and watched a movie at home.

Then Sunday he made me breakfast in the morning (waffles, eggs, bacon, the whole deal). YUM!! Nate's Mom also got me my favorite cereal because I had mentioned it one day...too cute! That evening he put together a family party for me and made a really nice dinner that I had wanted for a while. We had pork chops baked in apple pie filling and stuffing, curried butternut squash soup in bread bowls that Nate made, and boiled red potatoes. It was soooo good.

We then had a Wii tournament playing Mario Party 8 and Wii Sports. So much fun! We also had fun just kicking back with family and enjoying each other.

Nate also bought me a giant chocolate cake that was SOO rich and completely mouthwatering. He definitely knows what I like. :) AND he bought me a purse that I had wanted and took me to Phantom just a couple days before. Isn't Nate just the greatest?? I love him! Thanks to everyone who came too and for their really nice presents!! And to Heidi for letting us come to her house...and to everyone who helped out! I loved it!!

Phantom!!!

This past Thursday Nate and I and a bunch of the family went to see Phantom of the Opera at the Paramount in Seattle. The show was amazing!! I was really impressed with all of the cast, but most especially the guy who played the Phantom. His voice was absolutely perfect. I couldn't get enough of it. Broadway is awesome! The set and stage tricks were so cool and really fun to watch! We all loved it and I'm so lucky to have a husband that likes to go to things like that and is willing to take me. :) Here are a few pics:

The Paramount theater as we drove by when we got there.

A picture of us inside the theater in our seats. I guess the building is copyrighted so we weren't supposed to take pictures anywhere inside..but we got out with this picture...lol.

Outside afterwards. Love the lights!!

Catching up....

As some of you have noticed, we haven't really kept the blog up-to-date lately. Now, we get to play catch-up. :-)

Seafair

After a week of watching the Blue Angels during my lunch break, Amy and I went down to lake washington to watch the performance. It was a perspective that I had never seen before (I usually saw it from Boeing field) and lucky for me, my camera battery lasted long enough to get these shots. Before the Blue Angels performed, there was an a10 warthog and a Coast Guard helicopter among other planes.

Mt. Rainier

A few weekends ago, we went up to Mt. Rainier to go on a hike and so Amy could get a good close-up of the mountain. We started from Sunrise and did the hike to the Mt. Fremont lookout and it took a few hours. Here are some of the pictures:

This is Amy at the beginning of the trail at Sunrise. In the picture below, you can see the path we took out to the lookout point. This was after the intense steep part of the trail. The lookout is the little dot at the tip of the mountain.

Finally we made it!!! Lucky for us, there was a gazillion mosquitoes that made it too so we weren't able to stay long. Even with bug spray they were still annoying. Before leaving, we got this picture. Unfortunately the big chipmunk that was at the lookout didn't want to be in the picture. Lucky for us, Amy wanted to be in the picture? :)

Since we had to look at a car before going on the hike, we didn't start until around 12:30. By that time, it was 1,245 degrees. Ok so maybe only around 85 degrees but it was hot! The bag that I was carrying left a good sweat mark on my back:

Amy thought that it looked like a face. It was a fun trip and a good hike. Despite wearing SPF 50 sunblock, Amy got a sunburn which is still visible 3 weeks later.
